International Unconventional Gas Opportunities
This presentation will identify both existing and potential unconventional-gas plays abroad. Further discussion will focus on resource sizes and technologies required to develop the varying types of international unconventional-gas plays efficiently.
Introduction by Bill Pike, Editor-in-Chief, E&P Magazine
During 2007, unconventional reservoirs generated 40% of productive U.S. gas capacity and are projected to contribute two-thirds of productive capacity by 2018. And, this can be replicated abroad, says Dr. Philip Stark, vice president, industry relations, IHS Inc.
International, conventional gas supplies are abundant, but production is slipping, he adds. In some developed countries, there are concerns about security of supplies and some developing countries are seeking new supplies.
International unconventional gas resources are thought to be huge. Although solid estimates are lacking. "These are not well measured, but the implication is there is a substantial global unconventional resource," he says.
